Welcome to the Community Benefits Reporting website for the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Reports submitted through this website will be used to compile the FY2010 Johns Hopkins Hospital Community Benefit Report.

State regulations require each nonprofit hospital in Maryland to submit an annual Community Benefit Report to the Health Services Cost Review Commission. Please note that data contained in this year's report will also be utilized by The Johns Hopkins Hospital to comply with new federal regulations. The report will contain information that documents the cost, type of community benefit programs and activities that are provided to the community.

A community benefit is defined as an activity that is intended to address community needs and priorities primarily through disease prevention, improvement of health status and quality of life, including:

  • health services provided to vulnerable or underserved populations
  • financial or in-kind support of public health programs
  • donations of funds, property, or other resources that contribute to a community priority
  • health care cost containment activities
  • health education, screening and prevention services

Community benefit services include activities carried out for the express purpose of improving community health. They typically extend beyond patient care activities.

The final Community Benefit Report will be made available to the public and utilized internally to promote community benefit activities. In order for The Johns Hopkins Hospital to prepare its FY2010 Community Benefit Report and comply with state regulations, specific information about community programs and services within the Hospital needs to be obtained.

This site contains a Report Form that will be used by The Johns Hopkins Hospital to input data on affiliated community programs or activities.
